//i haven’t been on this blog in, uh. 4 years? almost 5. woops.
gonna do a nice clear out of inactive blogs and blogs i never interacted with and what not then see about getting Le back into action maybe? Consider all threads dropped, for now though I’ll be going through my drafts and seeing what’s in there because I’m sure I probably owed a ton of stuff for the last 4 years fghbhb
once i do some clean up then I’ll start being active again.
“Relax, I’m not gonna squish you. Like I said, value all life and all that.” Though a part of him really wanted to.
“Hmn.” He hummed to himself, curious. If what she was saying was true then this ‘magic’ was really just another form of science. And he liked science. He understood science. Maybe he could understand this so-called ‘magic’ too.
“So this ‘magic’ is just a different form of science, then?” It made some weird semblance of sense. He’d made plenty of explosive devices before, although the thought of learning how to set someone’s body parts on fire gave him a warm fuzzy feeling inside.
“Potions?” Another strange word.
“Well, yeah? I mean, it’s just the process of taking natural life energy from the world around and converting it into transmutational energy, then applying it to the circle and fueling the spell with it.” She gestured vaguely, trying to illustrate her point properly.
“Witches cast spells. Wizards use alchemy. It’s mostly math.” Le wrinkled her nose in distaste. “That’s why no one likes Wizards.” Perking up as his question, Leanne gestured again, more animated this time.
“Yeah, potions! You mix stuff together and it does stuff.”
He huffed in annoyance as she put the flames out. Thankfully they weren’t hot enough to burn anything but she still set his hands on fire.
“Ya think?” He shook his head, squinting at the soot now covering his hands. Still, he couldn’t deny she’d done something to make that happen. Though he still didn’t believe it was magic.
“I’ll admit you did something, I won’t admit to it being magic, yet at least.
And if I wasn’t part of an alien race that valued all life- even small humans who set my hands on fire, you’d be squished right now. Non-magically.”
“It was an accident,” she replied, huffing up at him. “I just pulled on too much, that’s all! That tends to happen when you pull too much energy into a spell. I was hoping I’d get it right this time.” Sticking out her tongue at him, she crouched to start wiping soot off his hands.
“That’s what the symbols are for, see? This one here regulates energy input, and this one output – but I put too much in and overloaded the input and the output had to compensate, so naturally – boom! Just like that. Fire hands.” She shrugged, brushing her hands together as she stood again.
“Listen shortstuff, as a scientist and an engineer, my hands are one of my most important features, if you mess ‘em up there will be definite squishing.” It was only his beliefs as a scientist that kept this charade up as long as it did. All she’d done so far was draw on him, and she wanted to call him a baby.
“Alright, alright.” He watched, head tilted to the side. “Again, I reserve the right to squish if this goes badl-”
And then his hands were on fire.
“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!” He shouted, more in shock than pain, at the sight of his hands on fire. Yep, there would be definite squishing now. Right after his hands stopped being on fire.
“Putitoutputitoutputitout!”
“I’VE GOT IT JUST CALM DOWN –” Thankfully the flames weren’t too hard to smother, and they hadn’t been hot enough to burn anything before she’d patted them all out.
Sheepishly folding her sooty hands together, Leanne straightened and gave Wheeljack the primmest look she could muster.
“I may have overdone the spell. A little bit. Again. Just – you know. Just a little bit.” Clearing her throat, she leaned back slightly, trying not to look too nervous. “Anyway, maybe next time I’ll just make you a potion. Those are easy.”
A long pause, before she forced out a cheerful, “But! I did do magic! It wasn’t the intention but I definitely set your hands on fire. Magically.”
‘Did the small human just ‘shush’ me?’ He thinks to himself as he looks on incredulously as she worked. He grew more and more unconvinced as she carried on but allowed her to do so for the sake of completion. Surely there was no such thing as magic, the human’s just had her brains scrambled when she somehow landed in his ship.
That had to be it.
“I hope you got something to wash this junk off when you’re done.” He sighs as he does as she asks again, holding his palms close together for her.
“It’s chalk, you baby. It’ll wipe right off if you rub them together. Anyway, open, mmm – these two! These two fingers here, open them up and make a space for me okay. I don’t wanna get squished if the spell works right.” The blonde waited impatiently for the robot to do as he was told, before wriggling her way in between the fingers above her. Hopefully she wouldn’t get smashed when the spell went off.
“Okay, okay! Now, watch!” Standing on her toes again, Leanne reached out to press her fingers against the circle on the top palm, and one foot against the bottom circle.
“Okay, here we go! Don’t squish me!” she added as an aside, before she reached out to pull on the magic she could see.
A second later there was a deafening bang and his hands caught fire.
“Fuck – that wasn’t – um, okay this is okay, I can totally fix this!”she exclaimed, immediately dropping to her knees and trying to smother the flames with her hands. “I just messed up again that’s all, I can fix it –”
“Okay-” He didn’t get what this was supposed to do, but science was about proving things and he was determined to at least let her try.
He laid his hands flat, squinting as she pulled out a piece of… chalk? and began drawing on his hands.
“Sure, right, just a minute.”
She flapped a hand at him distractedly, pointedly shushing him as she concentrated, eyes flicking between both hands and over the symbols she’d drawn on the hand she was standing on. “That’s one! Next hand! Don’t smudge!”
With that order, she scrambled to the edge of his palm and hopped to the other one to repeat the process, before standing back and peering between the two circles and sets of symbols she’d scribbled.
“Okay, nooow… Hrm. That’s an interesting color – bring that hand over here, and hold it above palm down so they’re facing each other. I gotta touch both!”
He stared at her curiously. She was like a sparkling wanting to be held. Were witches human versions of sparkling, babies? wherever she came from?
Reluctantly, he did as she asked, lifting her up into his hands.
“Now flat! Like this.” She demonstrated, holding her hands out palms up. “Both hands! And hold still!”
As soon as he’d obeyed, the blonde dug a bit of chalk from a pocket and crouched to begin drawing on the hand he’d picked her up in. “This’ll take a minute.”

» Fairly friendly and cheerful, Leanne greets most things with a smile. What she doesn't smile at, she tends to sass. Generally considered a "failure" as a normal Witch due to her tendency to misfire her magical spells, Le is still considered a genius potioneer and her potions are sought after by a wide variety of people.
She tends to be a bit impulsive in her decisions, stubbornly refusing to believe anyone could really be a bad person (mainly a product of the world she lives in), and tends to go out of her way to help people even when she probably shouldn't. Le fully believes that as a Witch it's pretty much her absolute duty to help other people, sometimes even at the expense of herself, whenever she can.
